Groom speeches are probably one of the most awaited parts in every wedding ceremony. This is because after all the whirlwind, fairy tale like set-ups, and mad dash of tears and emotions during the wedding rites, the groom will finally say his piece about his bride and the whole event. As we all know, men are not chatty when it comes to their emotions, given the so-called man ego.  Nonetheless, they are letting their guards down for this one and eventually be the focus of the limelight.

Groom speeches generally cover the following areas: admiration for the bride, a little summary of the relationship before it leads to the marriage, and words of gratitude for the people who made the relationship and the wedding possible.  The speech need not follow a chronological order or a formal structure for it will defeat the informal and fun-themed of the wedding. The question now is “how am I going to say this?” “How do I get their attention?” “Am I going overboard with my candidness?”  These questions and probably more questions will come their way as the clock ticks to their event time slot.

Like what is mentioned above, groom speeches need not to be formal, rather should sound interesting and fun. Injecting humor in your opening statement is one way to do it. Humor in this sense must be the clean, invigorating, and respectful ones. Remember that the attendees of the wedding are your relatives and close friends that knows you and your bride to be in your best form. As the groom, ensure that your guests will not feel disturbed or annoyed by your below-the-belt quips and rants. Inserting a joke, a cool trivia about you and your bride, or maybe a short narration of your love story, on the other hand, can also help your groom speech invite appreciation from the audience.

Groom speeches require grooms to veer away from the traditional long story speeches and yawn-attracting moments. Keep the enthusiasm, fun, and the romantic touch of the celebration. As long as you know what to say and how to say it with grace and little humor, then you are good to go with your groom speech. This is your and your bride’s day so just relax and savour that moment in limelight.
